Wikipedia is an example of a bad website because it has multiple links and is very crowed making it confusing to use. Wikipedia also is very dull and not eye catching therefore making the website forgettable.

CurrysPCWorld has a good website because it is colourful and informative it also has a clear set out and is easy to navigate, the website has a clear search bar at the top and pictures making the website memorable.

final finale.PNG

My movie poster designs represent the theme of comedy in the poster through the use of colour, the big red title and the white background represent comedy films and the hint of yellow makes it clear that this movie is quite old. My design has changed by making the title clear and giving it a bevel as that makes it stand out, the animals in the background emphasize the importance of animals in the movie and the poster has the main character in the centre. I have designed the poster to relate to the movie and become eye catching.

MV5BYmVhNmFmOGYtZjgwNi00ZGQ0LThiMmQtOGZjMDUzNzJhMGIzXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMTMxODk2OTU_._V1_.jpg

These are my design inspiration, I chose these movies because they are  both very different with one being a comedy and the other being a horror. I took inspiration from with the yellow, red and blue colours and made them the most important colours in the poster for Pet Detective. For Us I took inspiration from the scissors and red jumpsuit, instead of making the scissors as clear I made them less noticeable and made a red background like the red jumpsuit.

us.PNG

My version of the Us movie poster represents horror because of the dark colours I used. The contrasting white text makes the movie title and slogan pop and easily visible. The shadows of the people give a creepy feel to the poster as well as the scissors the smaller silhouette is holding, this makes the poster eerie because young children are taught to be careful with scissors. The red background has a lighter area in the middle to take the viewers eyes away from the blank corners and to focus on the movie title.

mockup.PNG

mock ups are your work in a real life environment, a mock-up is not practical and cant be used, but it shows how your design would look put on advertisements. A mock-up is a digital rendering or model of a product

MOCKUPS

This mock-up shows the poster in a real life environment it proves that the poster looks good on the wall. The poster has a lot of dark colours therefore it would look best on a darker wall and could attract a lot of people.

pizzahut drawing 1.jpg

I took inspiration from these two initial ideas to create the Pizza Hut logo the hat from pizza hut was something I really wanted in the design and the typography is what I wanted to be the focus of the design as the name of the company is what help people remember. Having a bold big title was important as it is one of the most important parts of the design

pizza hut logo.PNG

This Pizza Hut logo was created on Photoshop and shows cheese dripping from the Pizza Hut hat, the clear name is the centre of the piece and the logo doesn't distract you from the name, however is still memorable. the colour contrast of a dark red and black with bright yellows make the logo pop and recognisable.

Illustrator

girafee ee.PNG

This giraffe is made using Adobe Illustrator. I used the paint brush tool and the live paint bucket tool.

1. find an image you want to create, and put it onto illustrator.

2. lock the image to the layer and make a new layer.

3. on the new layer draw the image using the paintbrush tool.

4. press the eye on the images so you can't see it.

5. Next press "expand appearance" on the drawing.

6. Get the live paint bucket and choose your colour.

7. finally colour in your image.

I used these colours as they show a gradient of the browns for the spots, this could be improved if I made the nose darker as well as the ossicones.

This video shows how I used shape and colour as well as the outline length and colour.

ups logo.PNG

I used the gradient tool for this logo. I changed the gradient order to look like the real logo. To make this better I could try and make the lines straight and perfectly curved.  The typography is clear and centred, the brown background makes the writing pop as the yellow/ gold contrasts the brown. the bright outline draws your attention to the inside and the writing.

groups.PNG

This was using groups and pathfinder. I sorted out the shapes if they're grouped or ungrouped, I used the pathfinder tool to make my own shapes and to cut shapes out of shapes making a window, I also merged shapes together.

I experimented on photoshop using saturation and vibrancy, i am able to include this into my work and create images that look unordinary

This is how I am able to export a image from photoshop into a png.

This was created on photoshop, using the text tool, I add bevel effects and depth to the typography. I made a gradient along the writing and changed the colours to create an effect. The curves effect made the gradient go outwards. I finally added star shapes thin enough to be sparkles and did a colour overlay to turn them white. The name has bright colours making it eye-catching and pop.

SAFETY RISKS

One safety risk would be if everyone didn’t know how to operate the equipment this is a safety risk because it would mean that people could break the equipment leading it to possibly catch fire.

Another safety risk are wires, people could trip on wires when they have work in their hands or if they’re escaping danger.

andy warhol cow.jpg

This Andy Warhol work is abstract and pop art. The pink image and the yellow negative space are good because the colours contrast and are opposite on the colour wheel. The image has a scrapbook effect made by shading and colour change. The work could be improved by having some more colours included as it only really shows two colours and could get boring to look at.

Starry Night.jpg

This Artwork includes lots of dark colours making the yellow stars and moon pop making the artwork eye-catching. the buildings blend in with the background making the entire artwork give an effect of a dystopian world. The big tree in the foreground is memorable as it is in your face and stands out in the sky from all the blues.

fruit by stefan.jpg

This piece of graphic design is good because of the composition of the piece with each fruit having its own space. The typography of the piece is confusing as you cannot read a full sentence as the words do not make sense with random words being placed. This work could be improved if it portrayed a message. This work is very abstract as you would not think to have writing on fruit. The negative space on the work is good as it separates each piece of fruit effectively.

  Branding Ideas        Generation

Branding is having a recognisable symbol or phrase related to your company. It is also giving a meaning to a specific product or company distinct. The objective is to stay distinct to customer to promise the product is aligned with the brands promises.

tesco.jpg

If I were to have a brand:

If I were to have a brand the brand would be a supermarket brand. My brand would be priced evenly almost matching prices to Tesco, to make my brand different and stand out it would prize itself on making your shopping trip fast and effective. The supermarket would include auto scanning your items as you leave the shop, it would reduce the amount of time you spend scanning your items and will stop ques being formed. The supermarket would be like the Amazon stores where there are no workers and you get charged as you leave the store, however the store will have lots of food, there will be worker at the supermarket which will stock up the items in the store. I would want a brand like this because a supermarket is one of the most visited places and reducing the amount of time people are in there will benefit everyone because you will no longer have to wait for people before you. Reducing time and making shopping efficient this will be popular as lots of people are not wanting to waste time waiting. This will also be effective as the supermarket will have to hire less people because no one is having to sit on a till, furthermore saving the brand money.

My target audience will be everyone, because my store will sell everyday necessities and food as well as premium brands and value brands, Children toys will also be sold as well as electronics, meaning the store targets all customers.

Three competitors for my brand would be:

1. Tesco because of their popularity.

2. Aldi because of their low prices.

3. Argos for their popularity with electronics.

Shell-Logo-Design.png

I like the shell logo because its rememberable and eye-catching.

The big red outline for the yellow shell makes it noticeable because the colours go well together.

If I were to improve the logo i would add typography to the design as it will makes the logo more memorable.

I like the formula 1 logo because of the colours and line work.

The logo is noticeable because of the almost symmetrical shape of the F and 1 it makes it noticeable because they look similar.

If I were to improve the logo I would change the typography i would make the letters shiny to represent the cars used.

f1 logo.png
Pepsi-Logo-Design.png

I like the Pepsi logo because of the shape inside the circle.

The logo is noticeable because of the red and blue colour, the colours contrast as they are opposite on the colour wheel and they are separated by the negative space yet still create a circle logo.

If I were to improve the logo I would make the logo 3D as it will create a sphere shape and that will make the logo intricate.

There are 5 principles of logo design:

Simple- The logo needs to be easily identifiable.

memorable- If the logo is effective people will remember it.

Timeless- The logo should avoid trends.

Versatile- Can be used in a variety of sizes and colour.

Relevance- the logo should fit the theme of the brand.

pride shop logo.PNG

The Quick shop logo has been developed a lot of times and I've tried many versions of the logo to find the right one for my brand. The use of colour has been used to create a easy to read logo that represents the shop, the green contrasts the black and the 'O' has been turned into an apple representing the healthy factor of the brand.

Adobe-Photoshop-Logo.png

Letter mark, the best type of use for this logo is as an icon. As it is versatile and can be changed easily.

Bentley-symbol-black-1920x1080.png

Emblem logo, the best type of use for this logo is on products as it isn't versatile. Therefore this logo will fit on cars.

internet logos.png

Pictorial mark, the best type of use for this logo is as a icon or for advertisement as it allows for an intriguing representation of a business.

The logos are similar in the fact that they represent their brand clearly. The logos differ to each other in the fact that the emblem logo has less colour in that the pictorial and letter mark. The pictorial mark logo is much more abstract and doesn't include any writing as the logo displays the company name. The Letter mark logo is much simpler and the Ps is an abbreviation of Photoshop and is so well know people know what the company is. The emblem logo is much more formal and isn't versatile as it very intricate and has a fixed design.

Types Of Research

Primary resource is research that takes longer, however has more conclusive results. Primary research is useful for results that are accurate. Examples of primary research are interviews, focus groups and questionnaires.

Secondary research is research conducted by someone else. Secondary research is useful for quick answers however may not be 100% accurate. Examples of Secondary research are textbooks, news articles and encyclopaedias.

The two forms of research are different because primary research is better than secondary research however it takes a lot of time to complete whereas secondary research may not have as precise results the research can be done in a short amount of time. If you were to set up a small shop primary research would be useful as you can get opinions of people in the area, secondary research would not be that useful for that. However if you were to create a website secondary research would be more useful as you can take inspiration from what people have wanted.

This advertisement is of images used to create a happy and
exciting image, the colours have been made bright to represent happiness and a bright day, the mountains show something people are enticed too, and the picnic shows a leisurely activity and peace. This represents the brand because of the items sold are able to be used during
activities like hiking up a
mountain or activities like a
picnic.

Font Theory

Why is a font style important to a brand?

Font style is important because a brand can be recognised off the font style. Font are used to give the brand personality and can give off impressions on the brand.

What is Serif and Sans Serif font?

Serif font is a small line or stroke attached to the letter making the don't classier and gives it more shape. Sans Serif does not have a line or stroke on the end of the letter.

Do you prefer Serif or Sans Serif fonts?

I prefer Serif fonts as they look nicer and create a nice effect to the typography, Serif fonts are also have more creative freedom because you can design it how you want it to be. Sans Serif fonts are not my favourite because they can be boring and are not as intriguing.

Choose a font that you would like to associate your brand with.

I would like to associate my brand with Sans Serif as it is a simpler font and my brand is not a luxury brand, the brand is also inclusive for everyone therefore the font is easy to read.

I am choosing the font Myriad Pro

BP-Serif-SansSerif-Graphic1.jpg

I have designed my logo like this because it is very simple and easy to read, I didn't want to have an extravagant or fancy logo as i felt like that didn't represent the brand correctly therefore the simplistic look of my logo yet still intriguing makes my logo represent the brand perfectly

I would like to associate my brand with these colours because they are bright colours therefore they are eye-catching and will attract people to the brand.

The orange is a colour that goes well with the black in the logo.

The green is a brighter green giving the brand a new fresh green that can also be used.

The red is a darker red giving it a posh and expensive look meaning the brand is inclusive for everyone and it appeals to everyone.

Brand style guidelines are instructions on how the brand should be communicated. it contains the requirements needed to represent the brand correctly

brand style guidelines.jpg

My brand guidelines front cover has a bold title image and index as well as a small area for colour codes of the logo. This design makes the front cover interesting and gain the attention of viewers it gives information straight away therefore engaging the reader instantly, the front page includes the green colour from the logo making the brand guidelines fit in with the brand identity, the cream colour that is also shown throughout the brand guidelines was chosen because it complements the green as well as making the guidelines look professional and overall making a nicer image to look at. The typography used is also the same font as the word "shop" in the logo as it is apart of the brand identity and makes the whole brand guidelines look sensible and complete.

brand guidelines front page..PNG

This feedback was helpful as it tells me my brand has correctly been presented as well as useful feedback to gain attention to the brand. I will change the advertisements as that was the part that needs the most improvement.

feddback on supermarket.PNG

The creative brief has included what advertisement I want and it also includes the problems with the brand and how to fix it, the goal for the brand, who the target audience is and the key insight for the brand. The creative brief has worked well as I have used the colours that fit with the brand identity. I included statistics as well as a organised lay out for the brief this means that the creative brief is easily read and includes all the information needed for the advertisement.

deceased poster png.png

The Deceased poster I made represents the brand because it shows off the skull element to the brand in a fun way showing its a streetwear brand, the aim of the poster was to show that it is a cheap high quality brand. The word 'DECEASED' has been reflected to create an eerie effect.

deceased illustator.................jpg
quick shop eco friendly.PNG

The work my partner designed for me meets the design brief I made because it represents the eco-friendly side to the brand, the design values the message that was wanting to be portrayed and the design solves the problems with the brand. The design meets the brand guidelines due to the colours used as it follows the brand identity, however the font used does not fit the brand identity and is not the right font for the brand. The design was very successful as it reaches the goal wanted and looks professional giving the brand a successful look, the design could be improved by including some more colour or making the design slightly more eye-catching with the used of shape or line. The communication maintained was good as we both knew what to design for each other and had enough resources to create a good design.

Project Evaluation

The project brief is a brand and brief that me and a partner swapped, the goal was to create an advertisement of their choice for the other person to create. The brief initially felt like a hard task to complete and would challenge your ability as your making a design for another person therefore you'll want to create the best design possible. The career path this project targets is a career as a business owner, promotion specialist or graphic designer. The first idea I had for this brand was a leaflet as it is a common thing you see inside shops, however through further thought a poster would be an item you see frequently as could promote the brand massively, my idea developed into a eco-friendly poster as electric vehicles do not produce greenhouse gasses therefore helping the planet, this idea was chosen as it shall attract people and possible change how they shop. The idea was effective because it has a unique selling point and has never been done before. The target audience for my brand are people who drive or spend too much time shopping as a delivery service will do all the work for you. The needs for my target audience were a quick and eco-friendly delivery service to receive products and groceries effectively. Yes, I reached my target audience as the poster that was designed shows off the uniqueness and attractiveness of the brand.

The primary research I have carried out is a google document questionnaire, I had local people give me answers to the logo of the brand and if its effective and related to the brand. The primary research told me that the logo represents the brand and that I have a good brand idea. I applied the primary research to my practical work by having the logo of the brand be one of the main focuses. secondary research I have carried out is how many deliveries were done by Tesco in one month, with this information I was able to predict the number of deliveries I would make as Tesco is one of the main competitors of the brand. I applied this to my work by making the delivery service I provided to be better and have a new selling point to deliveries. Skills I developed in this project are the distort skill on photoshop it allowed me to bend the brand logo onto a top and gravestone. Skills I need to improve on are using illustrator as lines I create sometimes come out incorrect and I spend a lot of time fixing it. Skills I could use in employment are skills like magic wand or the blending options feature as they can be used as a graphic designer, and it allows me to have designs that look professional. Techniques I have used in this project are colour as I made a gradient in the sky as well as creating a nice smoke effect at the bottom, space has also been used as in the design I was told that a simple design was wanted so I made sure I didn't bombard the design with things. Methods of communication used were messages on Microsoft teams discussing how to get the perfect design for each other.

Problems I encountered were using Adobe illustrator to create a graveyard with clothes, the line work caused a lot of delay in the process of the design and made me unable to create I design I was completely happy with. I solved the problems by using the direct selection tool and trying to fix the parts of the design I was unhappy with. In the future I will avoid these problems by making one continuous line therefore avoiding lines that don't completely connect. I met all the deadlines on time as I was efficient with how I worked and got all the tasks done. I organised myself by completing the tasks I were most comfortable with as therefore I would be able to have a lot of time to complete the harder tasks and programmes, I'm less comfortable with. I could organise myself better in future by spending less time on little things I could fix and instead focusing on the whole design making sure it is the best possible design.

I am extremely happy with the project outcome overall as I can see the hard work done to complete a design my partner is happy with and create a design that includes skill and hard tools. I do think my outcomes meet a professional standard as they have used skills that take practice to use, and the designs relate to the brand I was designing for. I could bring my designs to a more professional standard by including more colour in my illustrator design and changing the text to be more visible in the photoshop design. The most difficult part of this project was coming up with a unique design that meets the creative brief as I wanted a design, I am happy with yet also a design that represents the brand. In the next project I will include more techniques to the design. I have learnt that having multiple design ideas to come up with the perfect design is best as I am able to experiment with the designs.

This poster done on illustrator shows off a Halloween scene that's child friendly yet still spooky. The centre moon brings the whole poster together as it draws the attention to the ghosts and message. The typography used makes the poster better as it looks slightly like the tree branches.

google halloween.PNG

This google doodle was created on photoshop and illustrator. The large amount of colour in the doodle represents google as they are a colourful brand, each letter represents a different part of Halloween and the doodle is massively different to the original yet still represents the brand well.
