Facebook use interactivity with videos. The interactive videos encourage users to participate on the website, users vote in polls, answer multiple-choice questions, or compete in online games. Facebook also use interactive advertisements allowing brands to build ads with games to interact with the user and let the user experience augmented reality to experience a product. This is shaping the 21st century because it shows advancement in technology and allows brands to see what users are wanting by finding out what intrigues them through interactive media.

A QR code is a type of barcode that can be read easily by a digital device. The QR code stores information and can be read in two ways top to bottom and right to left whereas a barcode can only be read top to bottom therefore a QR code can hold significantly more information than a barcode. This can be helpful on a design outcome as it allows users to quickly scan the QR code and be lead to more information on a website

Colouring pages are black and white images that can be coloured in online or physically. Colouring books are aimed at everyone and can help reduce anxiety or just be fun. Colouring book are interactive as they give the user complete power as to what colours are used, some colouring books give you a key to follow and you colour by numbers.

Choppy playback in Premiere Pro could be caused by bad render files and cache files, all you have to do is open Premiere's preferences and select the “Media Cache” tab, and then click the “Delete” button.

An Anaglyph 3D is stereoscopic 3D effect created on images by encoding each eyes image by using filters or different colours typically red and cyan.

anaglyph.jpg
anaglyph 1.jpg

A anaglyph 3D image is a image that is 3D and pops out, they have been used to create a interactive picture that works when wearing anaglyph glasses. People interact with them via the glasses and seeing a 3D image.

After reflecting on my work i do not think the outcome is good, a better effect could be created if i only made the dinosaurs 3D, otherwise the background blends in and the image does not look as 3D as intended.

To make an effective  icon, apps must stand out, colour is an easy way to make the app stand out as bright vibrant colours bring attention towards it. Dimensions and gradients are also effective as they look like real buttons making the logo effective.

appps.jpg
angry bird good.PNG
angry bird good.PNG

The 3 logo apps are all pictorial. The Deliveroo logo is easily recognisable due to the unique shape in the logo, the logo is only made of straight lines apart from the eye making the design simplistic. The snapchat logo has a very bright yellow drawing a lot of attention toward it and allowing people to quickly find the app. The twitter logo is a bright blue which draws attention towards the bird cut out in the centre, the twitter logo is much more detailed than the other logos.

This new logo for the Angry Birds app is effective as it gives a good idea as to what the app is for and shows the main character as well as being bright and colourful making it stand out, the logo tells the user as lot about the app because of the sky and a bird flying through it.

Audio Problems

Audio problems I faced were the issue with the sound I picked the audio stopped working half way through and didn't sound right, the audio ended up not sounding right for the video, to fix this i simply got a new audio for the video, the new audio fit the video really well and creates a very nice theme for the video

Problems with interactive design I faced were QR codes not working or making the design look messy, therefore to fix with i tested out the QR code until it worked and would make the QR code have plenty of space and room to make the QR the centre of the piece.

The Thriller design i made represents the opening lines " It's close to midnight something evil's lurking from the dark" due to the colour that has been used, the dark colours represents midnight and the eerie feel of when its dark portrayed through the poster. The werewolf at the top is the werewolf from the music video, and the moon has Michael Jacksons face on it. If i were to do this again i would include more red as that is one of the most prominent colours in the music video, I would also make the face in the moon blend in to look like its moulded into the moon

Instagram is a social media app, with millions of downloads. Businesses can use Instagram as to promote their business by posting their products for anyone to see, this can easily have them gain customers as people can ask questions about the product and see the product being used.

Instagram is interactive as people are able to comment on and like posts showing interactivity on a post. You can also put polls on your story for viewers to interact with. Location based hashtags are also used for viewers to interact with and gain interest on your posts.

The results to my poll were 57% 3D pictures and 43% QR codes.

I have chosen to do the interactive project on a colouring book as I feel that colouring books are the most interactive as it gives the user the most possibilities, I may also do some colour by number designs as that allows the user to follow the guidance and instructions given. With a colouring book I can also include drawing for people of all ages giving the colouring book the most interactive possibilities.

project design mind map.PNG

The theme for the interactive design task is a colouring book this will include easy colour by numbers and complex designs.

I am attempting to create  8 pages including research on each of the designs.

A colouring book is a book full of outlines of pictures for the user to add colour, Colouring books can help destress adults and help with anxiety colouring books are proven to be a creative way to release stress. Children colouring books are much simpler than adult colouring books and sometimes include colour by number pages, these pages include an image with a key of colours to follow in order to colour in the picture.

pokemon popularity.PNG

All 3 of these appear on the front cover

My design evolved massively to attract the target audience to the colouring book, I used the well known typography text for the title and included some of the most popular Pokémon ever created. If i were to change the design I would make a collage of Pokémon as this would attract people as there would have a lot more Pokémon being displayed.

front page complete.PNG

little pig and slightly bigger pig.PNG

The front page includes one of the main Pokémon from the 5th generation of Pokémon, this generation also included the most amount of new Pokémon making the front page of my colouring book very well known as so many people will know about the Pokémon due to it being so well advertised, I included the evolutions behind the Pokémon as they can been seen as a trio it also allows the used to add dimension to the drawing making the drawing much more interactive.

all the pigs.PNG

Interactive based problems I could face are issues such as a QR code being too small to scan or directs the user to the wrong website or the colouring pages not being accessible to digital designers due to unconnected lines in the drawing meaning they cannot colour the drawing

ninja frog complete.png

The next page in my colouring book is a colour by numbers page with each section outlined in the colour used as well as the numbers being the same colour therefore the numbers will blend in once coloured in, this is a more controlled colouring page as there is less creative freedom. The key is labelled and big enough to see the colours the need to be used easily.

[].PNG

The results from the poll let me know that the colouring book will mostly be used for stress relief and Gengar is the most wanted next design.

zebra.jpg

The next page in my colouring book is landscape meaning you will have to turn the book to colour it in making the page interactive, this drawing is completely black and white meaning the user has complete freedom in the drawing.

The article I read explains how colouring is a low skill hobby accessible to everyone and can help with things such as being angry, anxious, agitated, having children or teens unable to fall asleep at a decent hour each night, being overwhelmed, over-stressed, and over tired. The website also informs me that parents and teachers enjoy  using colouring books for their children however prefer if their children draw an image and colour it in. The colouring book craze has made colouring books a very common book for people of all ages.

google form.jpg
colouring book good words.PNG

As proven colouring is a extremely useful hobby to children and adults, the benefits it provides are useful for gaining skills in drawing or social skills as colouring can be done with a group of people.

A focus group is group sharing ideas on a company to gain information with 6-10 people involved people in a focus group have common traits/experiences. Their reactions to specific researcher/evaluator-posed questions are studied.

A successful focus group involves multiple different questions based on the topic, gaining serious useful answers to improve on things the public would like improved. Things that could go wrong are inappropriate questions and answers that do not relate to the topic.

Artboard 1.png
Purple circle whooo.jpg

After evaluating the focus group i have learn that my colouring book is interactive and the only thing i need to add are more pages the colour by numbers was very interactive

My Gengar is a simple design yet is one of the most popular Pokémon therefore will be popular, if i were to improve this i would add a background as this would create a nice effect for the page

Artboard 1-100.jpg

Mewtwo is a popular Pokémon making this design recognisable, I used the paint brush tool for the body and pen tool for the tail, If I were to improve this design I would make this colouring page a colour by numbers page.

scenery lefttttt.jpg
scenery rightt.jpg

These two pages merge into each other, this is a complex design as it includes a background with detail, this page was aimed at adults as it includes lots more detail, if I were to improve this I would include some colour to help differentiate the water from grass it can seem confusing.

This colouring page is a simple design aimed for people who want an easy drawing to colour in, I drew this with the paint brush tool and direct selection tool to refine the lines, if I were to improve this I would include more detail to the drawing.

umbreo.jpg
BACK PAGE real.jpg

This back page is coloured to give more life and vibrancy to the colouring book, making it more appealing to a younger audience, I downloaded a font to create a blurb that fit the theme of the book, as well as a QR code to the Pokémon website, The background is a colouring theme underwater picture giving the entire book a nice look.

FOCUS GROUP!!!

Evaluation

The project brief was to design something with interactive elements, I initially felt confident with this brief as I had full creative freedom and could create designs I was happy with. This project aims towards all graphic design careers as you can choose what to design, my design aims towards a colouring book and digital colouring book career paths.

My first idea for this project was to create a piece with playing cards as I would be able to improve using illustrator for creative designs. My ideas developed into Pokémon cards however I ended up choosing a Pokémon colouring book as I felt that was much more interactive and met the brief. This was an effective idea as I was able to create a 10 page colouring book with lots of designs and met the brief with multiple different interactive media choices.

My target audience for my colouring book is for older children as I have some simplistic designs as well as some complex designs in my colouring book, Adults are also able to use the colouring book as some designs are aimed towards adults. The interests and needs for my target audience was a colouring book that helped with stress, I implemented that by including multiple simplistic designs for an easy destressing colouring book, however some of my target audience wanted a fun colouring book I implemented that by including harder designs with much more detail so that some pages have fun designs that take longer to colour.

Primary research I carried out was a google forms document I sent this to classmates and family members and had them vote on what Pokémon they wanted to see in the book, as well as what the colouring book was used for. I applied the primary research to my work by changing designs to fit the purpose of the audience.

Secondary research I carried out was looking at news articles and YouTube videos on colouring books this allowed me to understand what the general public think about colouring books and how I can improve my colouring book. I applied this to my work by making design's simplistic and complex for different ages.

Processes and techniques I used were illustrator and photoshop I used paintbrush and pen tools to design the colouring page, I used eyedropper tools to get the exact colour of designs and downloaded fonts to make sure my colouring book was perfect. The processes and techniques fit my design as they allowed me to make the best designs for digital and real colouring. Methods of communication used were focus groups as these allowed me to know what people think about my colouring book with helpful tips and ideas to improve my work.
